5 Summer Essentials to Keep in Your Bag

Bandaids for Summer
As parents we all love to get our kids out into the fresh air during summer and with that comes new sandals and running all over the playground. Make sure to keep a small first aid kit handy, in case the new sandals give your little one a blister. Running around the park is always lots of fun but little feet can stumble a leave knees a little scraped up we suggest the Welly First Aid Kit it has more than just a few bandages, hopefully you won’t need it but its always good to have.
Extra Clothing for Summer Play
So many parks now have splash pads so if you happen to end up at a park with one you can let your child have a blast and have some dry clothing to change into. A simple outfit change can mean the difference between cutting the day short or ending the day with a sweet sunset . A sweatshirt comes in handy when it’s going to be a long day although it may still will be warm keep one on hand just in case.
Water Bottles for Summer Heat
Keep your little one hydrated with fruit infused water or ice cubes in fun water bottles or sippy cups. It is important to note that children should drink the number of 8-ounce cups of water equal to their age, with a minimum of 64 ounces of water for children over the age of 8. These amounts do not include other beverages they may consume in a day such as milk and juice. Stay hydrated being a good role model when it comes to drinking water may not seem that important but in the long run they see you and pick up on things you like so drink your water and stay hydrated.
Snacks for Summer Hunger
Packing snacks seems like a no brainer, but we don’t only want to fill our kids tummies we want to create a good relationship with healthy foods. Fruits and veggies high in water content (watermelon, cucumber, zucchini, celery, berries) frozen blueberries slightly thawed. High Protein snacks to keep them feeling turkey cheese pinwheels, quesadillas, string cheese, sun butter with crackers or fruit, peanut butter and bananas. Little ones get hungry often while out and about offering healthy snacks promotes healthy eating habits from a young age and sets children up for a healthy lifestyle.
Sunscreen
Sunscreen is one thing many people have but not everyone uses, or may use incorrectly. Reapply! most sunscreens are not a once and done application its important to keep a good layer of protection on when you’re out in the sun whether getting wet or sweating it off it needs to be reapplied about every two hours. Now we are talking about sunscreen for your skin, but your little ones eyes need to be protected from the sun also, so a hat and sunglasses are an important addition to sunscreen. Even with sunscreen check your child periodically to make sure they are not overheating in the sun.
